MitreForge 45° Lock Mitre Router Bit
MitreForge 45° Lock Mitre Router Bit
Turn four flat boards into a seamless box — with joints stronger than the wood itself.
Every woodworker knows the frustration of a mitre joint that looks beautiful on the bench and falls apart six months later. Glue alone can't hold end grain. Clamps slip. Corners gap. And the moment the seasons change, the joint tells on you.
The MitreForge 45° Lock Mitre Router Bit ends that problem in a single pass.
One bit. One setup. Both halves of the joint cut from the same cutter — so the two pieces lock together like a key in a lock, with a continuous grain wrap that makes the corner all but disappear.

Why the joint actually holds
Most mitre joints fail for the same reason: they rely on end-grain glue surface, which is the weakest bond in woodworking. The MitreForge profile solves this at the geometry level.
The interlocking tongue-and-groove element does three things at once:
• Multiplies the gluing surface by exposing long-grain to long-grain along the entire joint, where glue actually grips.
• Self-aligns the two pieces the moment they meet — no fiddling, no shifting under clamp pressure, no glue squeeze-out pushing your corners out of square.
• Mechanically locks the joint so the wood itself shares the load, not just the adhesive.
The result is a 90° corner that resists racking, survives humidity swings, and looks like a single piece of timber folded at the seam.

Designed for the work you actually do
Whether you're building drawer boxes, jewellery cases, column wraps, cabinet carcasses, picture frames, or a faux beam to hide a header — the MitreForge handles hardwood, softwood, plywood and MDF with the same clean finish.
Three cutter sizes cover the full range of stock you're likely to work with:
• 1.27 cm (1/2") cutter — for stock 0.95 cm to 1.27 cm (3/8" to 1/2")
• 1.91 cm (3/4") cutter — for stock 1.27 cm to 1.91 cm (1/2" to 3/4")
• 2.54 cm (1") cutter — for stock 1.91 cm to 2.54 cm (3/4" to 1")
Choose the cutter that matches your timber thickness. One bit creates both halves of the joint — there's no second setup, no second purchase, no guesswork.

Built to last past the project
• Body: solid hardened HSS steel
• Blades: industrial-grade nano-grain carbide, sharper for longer
• Anti-kickback design for safer, smoother passes
• Shank: 1.27 cm (1/2") — the only shank size strong enough to carry a cutter head of this mass without flex or vibration
A 0.64 cm (1/4") shank simply isn't safe with a cutter this size. Under load it bends, bows and eventually breaks. We don't offer one, and we'd advise against any brand that does.

Compatible with
HARDWOOD · SOFTWOOD · PLYWOOD · MDF · JOINTS AT 90° OR 180°
What's in it for you
• Furniture-grade corners without dovetail jigs or specialist machinery
• Faster assembly — pieces snap into alignment before the glue grabs
• Cleaner finish — grain wraps the corner instead of breaking at it
• One tool, one pass, one professional result every time
